Peggy Shuffield Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John M. Ireland & Son Funeral Home and Chapel on Aug. 14, 2025.
Peggy Kay Shuffield was born on January 13th, 1946. Peggy's parents were

Betty E. White and H.G. White, both of Oklahoma City. Peggy graduated from

Moore High School in 1964. She was a nurse for over much of her life and

worked in the medical field as not only a nurse but a lab technician. She also

worked caring for others as a private duty nurse towards the end of her nursing

career. She wanted to make sure the last days of those who were ill were days

that were filled with comfort and peace.

When she left the medical field, she substituted in Moore Public Schools, a

job she truly enjoyed, and she often said she loved working with the kids.

Peggy was a firecracker--she was always smiling and ready to listen to others,

but they had to be ready for the raw and uncensored truth. She was quick to

hear a joke and at times she herself had no filter. Peggy's hobbies and her

loves in life were spending time with animals, especially horses, country

music and dancing, cooking, going out to eat, spending time with family, and

she loved butterflies and yellow roses, and spending quiet time with the Lord.

Peggy has two children: Penny and Craig. She loved her children deeply.

Peggy loved to cook and her masterpiece dishes were macaroni and

tomatoes, beans and cornbread, and goulash. She often times wanted to go

out to eat and would say she wanted just "a good ole-fashion burger."

Peggy suffered a stroke in 2021 that left her left side partially paralyzed, but

She never gave up--she tried to learn to walk again but it did not work. Over

the years, her illnesses would become a challenge for her--many trips to the

hospital--where the nurses never failed to tell Penny and Rob how much they

loved Peggy's spunk and so many people said she was "spicy." She was quick

to tell you what she wanted and how things need to be.

Peggy spent a lot of time caring for her own mother in her mother's final days.

Penny has often said this is where she got the example in how to care for her

mother. Peggy loved her morning time coffee with Rob each day after his

retirement and her visits with Penny about her day at school. She would often

ask, "how were the kids today," "nobody give you any problems."

Penny and Rob spent the last 4 years caring for her mom and as many of you

know it was not always easy, but Penny felt a strong love and sense of duty in

caring for her mother. Rob spent a great amount of time helping Peggy and

catering to her, which often times involved late night trips to Braum's for a

strawberry malt or late-night trip for egg drop soup. He used to say they were

partners in crime. She would tell nurses that Rob was the best man in the

world.

She always looked forward to the times Craig and Ashley would come to visit

and bring dinner with them and spend time with her. She loved hearing from

Savannah about how the kids were doing and what was new in their world.

Peggy's last days she often spoke of her momma and her grandma--she

missed them greatly. The family has peace that she is with both her momma

and her grandma now in the presence of God. In Heaven she has many

friends -- but her close friends were Glynda, Barbara, and Sunny. Peggy is also

surrounded by her pets that she adored and loved.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Betty White, H.G. White,

grandmother Cliffie Lee Wilis; she is survived by her daughter Penny,

husband Rob, whom Peggy would say is the best son in law in the world; her

son Craig, whom she loved very much and his wife Ashley; her granddaughter

Savannah and her husband Jared. She loved to banter with Savannah and the

two of them would spend time on the phone teasing one another. She could

sure get Savannah fired-up, but she truly loved that girl and loved hearing

about her day; she is also survived by her great grand children: Kaisley, Kinley

and Kallan.

Peggy passed peacefully from this earth to be with the Lord on Monday,

August 11 in early morning. There is no doubt there will be a void and she will

be missed greatly.
