Peggy Annette Stork (aged 86 years), passed away on November 1, 2025 at Centennial Hospital in Las Vegas, NV from rheumatoid arthritis that affected her lungs, congestive heart failure and pneumonia. Family and friends were present. She was born on October 4, 1939 in Atlanta, GA to George Bailey Calhoun and Mary Avalene Karr (Calhoun, Mendelson) at Grady Hospital. She loved her High School experience, including being a Varsity Cheerleader. She met James L. Stork, I in Atlanta, GA in 1955. After a 6-week whirlwind romance, they were married at Inez and Robin Geurin’s house in Canton, GA on December 31, 1955 at 9pm. Jim always said he married her on that date and time “so he could deduct her from his taxes for the whole year.”

After their marriage they relocated to San Antonio, TX where Jim was stationed while serving in the Air Force. She loved living the military life. Their first child, Dawn was born in late 1956 during their stay in San Antonio. They then returned to Canton, GA where their second child, Eve was born in the Spring of 1958. In October 1958, they relocated to the Denver area. Their third child (and only son), James L. Stork, II was born in late 1959.

She was a mother and homemaker for many years while raising their three children. When she returned to the workforce, she primarily worked as a Tax Clerk in Arapahoe County and Jefferson County. When Jim retired, they relocated to Las Vegas, NV in 1992.

She had a love of education. She was well read and prolific in historical facts and stories. When her children were older, she returned to Arapahoe Community College in Littleton, CO where she received her Associate of Arts Degree. She loved her children and was so excited when her grandchildren and great grandchildren were born. She loved being Grams to all of them. She felt so fortunate to be able to be involved in their lives. Her children definitely hit “the Mom lottery” when they were born.

She is survived by her children; Sharon “Dawn” Fitzpatrick (Roger) of West Point, UT, Sherry “Eve” Stork (Dave, deceased) of Las Vegas, NV and James L. Stork, II (Ruth) of Bejuco, Panama; her grandchildren, Shannon (Chris) Anderson, Brian (Milda) Fitzpatrick, Brady Fitzpatrick and step-grandson Anthony Donkel (Natasha); and her great-grandchildren, Karsten (Matalyn) Anderson, Parker Anderson (Fiancee Emma Counter), Cathryn Fitzpatrick, Kian, Kinley and Chloe Fitzpatrick, Damian Shapiro and Alexander Donkel. In addition she is survived by her two beloved dogs, Beau and Annabelle and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her Husband of 57 years, James L. Stork, I, her parents George Bailey Calhoun and Mary Avalene Mendelson, and her siblings Donald Franklin Calhoun of Whitinsville, MA, Bobby Lewis Calhoun of Franklin, NC and her Sister, Shirley George Calhoun of Atlanta, GA. She was the last surviving of the four siblings.

She loved to draw, paint, watch TV, travel and do genealogy. She had a heart of gold.

No formal services will be held in Las Vegas, NV. Eve will have an informal celebration of her life in the coming months in Las Vegas. She will be cremated and her cremains returned to Denver, CO to be enniched with her Husband at Fort Logan National Cemetery in the late Spring 2026. Her wishes were for a sunrise service. This will be held at a local park in Denver, CO before her committal service at Fort Logan.

In lieu of flowers, the Family requests contributions to her favorite charity, St. Jude’s’s Childrens Hospital in Memphis, TN. We invite Family and Friends to leave condolences/memories/photos at www.starmortuary.com or www.storkmorleyfh.com.

She will be greatly missed by all.
