It is with deep sorrow that the family of Kevin G. Stork shares his passing. Kevin passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025, in Jacksonville, Florida, surrounded by his loving family. His final moments reflected the life he lived-rooted in faith, filled with love, and embraced by those who meant the most to him.
Born on May 7, 1953, in Mason City, Iowa, Kevin grew up in Clear Lake, where he built lifelong friendships and developed the strong values that guided him throughout his life. He graduated from Newman High School in Mason City, Class of 1972.
Kevin proudly served his country on active duty in the United States Air Force for six years, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant, followed by service in the Air National Guard of Arizona. An Avionics Navigation Systems Specialist in the Tactical Air Force, Kevin was selected to serve in the A-10A Tactical Fighter Joint Test Force with the Air Force Test and Evaluation Center. He was recognized for significant contributions to the operational test and evaluation that brought the A-10 aircraft into the Air Force inventory-a reflection of his dedication, intelligence, and skill. During his service, he met the love of his life, Janet, beginning a 50-year marriage marked by devotion, laughter, and faith.
Kevin earned his BSBA degree from the University of Arizona and achieved his CPA from the State of Tennessee-accomplishments he cherished deeply.
Following his military service, Kevin enjoyed a long and respected career in accounting. He began at the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), working in Power Business Operations and with power distributors in Alabama and Tennessee. His outstanding performance earned him the Board of Directors Award of Merit.
His work took him to Rochelle, Illinois, where he served as Financial Manager for Rochelle Municipal Utilities, overseeing electric generation and distribution, water, wastewater, and internet service operations. His professionalism and excellence in financial management were widely recognized.
Kevin culminated his distinguished career serving the City of Jacksonville in several key leadership roles. He served as Manager of Accounting Services – Fund Accounting, Comptroller, and Chief of the Accounting Division, working at the discretion of Mayors John Delaney, John Peyton, and Lenny Curry. He later held the position of Controller for the Jacksonville Police and Fire Pension Fund and ultimately ended his career as Comptroller for the City of Jacksonville. A Certified Government Financial Manager and active member of the Florida Government Finance Officers Association, Kevin's leadership and dedication earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and his community.
A lifelong fan of both the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Arizona Wildcats, Kevin loved cheering on his teams. More importantly, his greatest joy was his faith and his family. A faithful member of the Green Cove Springs Church of Christ, His church family held a special place in his heart. His life was a testament to what it means to walk closely with God and to care deeply for others.
Kevin is survived by his beloved wife, Janet; his children Michael (Ginger) Stork and Sandi (Anthony) Ray; and his nine granddaughters-(Stork) Emma, June, Zoey, Penelope, Peyton, Oakley, (Ray) Amelia, Eleanor, and Adeline. He was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick and Jeannine Stork of Clear Lake, Iowa.
A graveside service will be held Monday, October 13, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218. A Celebration of Life dinner will follow at 6:00 PM at Green Cove Springs Church of Christ, 3650 Russell Road, Green Cove Springs, FL 32043. In lieu of flowers, Kevin requested donations be made to the Green Cove Springs Church of Christ Mission Fund.
