Composino B. Sembrano

Composino "Sam" Sembrano, longtime resident of St. Augustine, died at the age of 90 on September 30, 2025.
He is survived by his wife Rose, daughters Cheryl and Tami, and 2 granddaughters Lexi and Sara.
Born in the Philippines of humble beginnings, his father a farmer and his mother a homemaker. Sam was the middle child of seven and always "into mischief" (his words). Sam was always a very hard worker and very meticulous. Whatever task he took on he would see it through to the very end.
He finished high school in the Philippines and some years later went on to join the US Navy. He retired in 1993 after proudly serving for over 30 years while traveling all over the world. He is quoted in a 12/20/2022 military publication: "I have always dreamed of seeing the world. So when my friend suggested joining the Navy, I jumped at the chance. I was a cook and then switched to air crew. I got to visit many places but my favorite was Spain. I made many friends during my service and we developed a strong camaraderie. I moved up the ranks and received several medals and citations. I was proud to serve my country and protect the freedom and rights of the people in the US. I am thankful for the experiences I had and the friends I made during my time in the military."
He was an excellent father, husband and friend. Everybody loved his quiet nature. When you met him, you wanted to be around him just a little bit longer.
He will be very sorely missed. A memorial service will be held at Craig Funeral Home on Monday, October 13 th at 10:00am.
