Peggy Mixson Thomas, age 77, of Panama City, FL, passed away on Friday, June 2, 2023.
Peggy was born in Mobile, AL. In her younger years she grew up on a Dairy Farm which was on the border of Calhoun and Jackson County. At a very young age, Peggy helped her parents and older sisters identify which cows needing milking! Her family sold the Dairy Farm and moved to Panama City. Peggy also lived in Bradenton, FL, Tallahassee, FL and finally made her way back to Panama City, FL.
Cheering on the Florida State Seminoles was one of Peggy's favorite things to do, whether it be football, baseball, softball or basketball, she loved anything FSU!! In her spare time, you could find Peggy looking for a "good deal" at her all-time favorite yard sales or a Thrift Store. Peggy loved finding the perfect thing to add to her collection of vintage glassware. Anytime you needed a shopping partner or someone to try out a new place to eat, Peggy was the lady to call! Over the past few years, Peggy could also be found in the crowd at dance recitals or competitions cheering on her precious nieces, Madison and Makinley.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, J.P. and Leslie Mixson; sister, Betty Davis and husband, Al; sister, Leslie "Jenny" Childs and husband, Bobby.
She is survived by her loving great niece, Leslie Hall and husband, Brent and great-great nieces, Madison and Makinley of Marianna; her co-workers at Emerald Coast Striping; nephew, Phillip Childs of Kingsland, GA; niece, Geni Davis Shiver (G.S.); niece, Anna Davis Sponholz (Larry); nephew, Al Davis; and many great nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be announced at a later date. Memorialization will be by cremation with Marianna Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
