Peggy Underwood Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jul. 6, 2024.
Peggy Underwood passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 30, 2024, in Fort Worth, Texas. Peggy had experienced declining health in recent years attributed to Alzheimer's disease.
Born May 7, 1952, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Catherine Pinneo Underwood and Hugh E. Underwood, Peggy was the youngest of six children. She lived her early years with a large extended family of grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins all living nearby. Numerous family gatherings were a way of life for the Underwood's.
Peggy had a private, fearless, and independent spirit with a quick wit and a love for fun. She enjoyed playing softball, photography, spending time with family, and embracing the beauty of nature. However, anyone who knew Peggy knew her true passions were vintage Mickey Mouse collectables, Disney movies, being Aunt Peggy to her numerous nieces and nephews, and especially her cherished canine companions, whom she lovingly called her four-legged children.
Peggy lived most of her life in the Fort Worth/Dallas area and worked primarily in the accounting field. In 2008, she had the opportunity to relocate for work to Castle Rock, Colorado, where she enjoyed a seven-year stay. While in Colorado, Peggy discovered her love for the mountains. She purchased a Jeep and an RV, and spent most weekends camping at area state parks, her favorite being Chatfield State Park. She found comfort and peace anytime she was in open spaces with nature, and considered time spent at Chatfield as her "happy place."
Peggy was preceded in death by her mother, Kate; her father, Hugh; her sister, Betty Patterson; and her brothers, Buddy, Tom, and Jim.
She is survived by her brother, John and wife, Beckie; sisters-in-law, Winnie and Sandra; brother-in-law, Jerry; her nieces and nephews, along with numerous extended family and friends who will cherish her memory.
The family extends special thanks to, Steven and Melissa Patterson, her nephew and niece, for their devoted care during the last three years of Peggy's life.
All services to celebrate Peggy's life will be held at Mount Olivet Funeral Home, 2301 N. Sylvania Ave., Fort Worth, Texas.
Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at Mount Olivet Chapel in the Breyley Suite. Funeral: 12 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2024, in Mount Olivet Chapel. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery.
