Peggy Ann Wilkerson, 91, mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, and businesswoman, passed away on Saturday, Feb 3. She led an active life and enjoyed camping, water and snow skiing, teaching swimming, and Sunday School. She participated in several international church mission trips, donating and fitting thousands of people, adults and children, with their first pair of glasses.
Born June 17, 1932, and married in 1951 to Cecil Burt Wilkerson for 73 years. She worked as an optician for 40 years in North Little Rock, in the offices of Dr. Bill Chandler, and Doctors Scruggs and Henry.
Her work helped pioneer the early days of contact lenses. She also worked with Baptist Health System, in patient outreach. She taught Sunday School and served faithfully as a minister’s wife at the Jacksonville, Levy, Oak Grove, and Jerusalem, AR Churches of Christ.
She is survived by her husband, Cecil Burt, and three sons: Alan (Donna) of Duck River, TN; Paul (Mary) of North Little Rock; Clay of Charlottesville, VA; and a foster son, Tim Jones of Springdale, AR. A brother, Dan R (Marie France) Williams of Los Angeles, California, and a sister, Martha (Lowell) Gregory, of Ashland City, TN. Eight grandchildren: Andrew, Aaron, Elliot, Cody, Rebecca, April, Camille, Mikaela, Amy, and Alex. And twenty great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to express our gratefulness to the wonderful folks at Hospice Home Care, and Good Shepherd Nursing and Rehab for their loving care of our wife and mother.
Visitation is at 10:30 AM, followed by a funeral at 12:00 PM, Friday, February 9, 2024 at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home. Burial will be at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
