Peggy (Adkins) Woodward, 98, of Spencer, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 24, 2025 at the Stonecroft Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bloomington, Indiana. Peggy was born in Owen County on July 25, 1927 to Raymond Edward Adkins and Ruth Naomi (Livingston) Adkins. Peggy worked many years at Bank One, then at the Indiana State Police Post in Bloomington and then for the Owen County Public Library. She loved crocheting, crossword puzzles and playing bingo. Peggy loved the Lord and was a longtime member of White River Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church.
Peggy is survived by her children, Beth Ann (Gordon) Dawley, Andrew Woodward, son-in-laws, Jimmie Durnil, Dan Swafford, nineteen grandchildren, thirty eight great-grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, her children's father, David W. Woodward, daughters, Doretta Durnil, Cathy Swafford, siblings, Mildred "Middy" J. Carpenter, Charles E. Adkins, brother-in-law, Gene Carpenter, sister-in-law, Voilet Adkins.
Graveside services will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at Gross Cemetery in Whitehall, Indiana. Todd Durnil will officiate.
Visitation will be 1:00 PM until time of service on Tuesday, at the Cemetery.
