Pei-Lien (Rose) Thayer, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully on August 22, 2025 at the age of 84. She resided in Woodbridge (Dale City), Virginia. Rose was born in Taichung, Taiwan on May 19, 1941. She will be remembered for her kind spirit, gentle wisdom and unwavering love, and for the many ways she touched the lives of those around her.
Rose is preceded in death by her husband, of 61 years, William B. Thayer (Bill). She loved and cared for Bill since they were married until his death earlier this year.
Rose is survived by her children and their spouses, Marco Thayer and his wife Lisa Duncan-Thayer, William B. Thayer II and his wife Becky, Robert J. Thayer and his wife Cindy, Ah-Ling Thayer and her husband Geoffery Johnson. She was the proud grandmother of Melissa, William, Meghan, Taylor, Caitlin, Sage, Sarah and Serena. She was the cherished great grandmother to Bailey, Amelia, Dean and Elliott. Additionally, Rose had an extensive number of relatives (nieces, nephews and cousins) overseas in Japan and Taiwan, along with her brother-in-law, Robert J. Thayer and all of her friends locally and abroad who loved her and will miss her immensely.
Rose spent over 50 years as a professional tailor; owning a tailor shop for many years in Woodbridge, Virginia. She loved to travel abroad to Japan and Taiwan to visit relatives as well as take cruises. She practiced Buddhism and Taoism.
