Penelope L. (Ware) Delawder, 81, of Cumberland, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2025 at UPMC – Western Maryland.
Born November 28, 1943, in Cresaptown, she was the daughter of the late Roy Lee and Amber Belle (Cole) Ware. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lester A. Delawder; four brothers, Calvin Ware, William Ware and wife Betty, Charles Ware and wife Joan and Donald Ware and wife Phyllis; and her two sisters, Geraldine Dick and husband Earl and Betty Lou Jones and husband Richard. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Penelope was a graduate of Allegany High School. Penelope retired from Lions Manor Nursing Home where she worked as a dietary aid. She was a member of Cresaptown Eagles.
Penelope enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. She loved to vacation with her family at lake houses in North Carolina. Penelope participated in the Demolition Derbies in Cumberland.
Penelope is survived by her two sons, Brian E. Miller and wife Lisa; Bradley Miller and wife Joyce; one daughter, Chastity A. Taylor and husband Robert; and eight grandchildren, Garrett, Patrick, Andrew, Dalton, Cydney, Robbie, Micah, and Uriyah; and several great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
