Penny Carol Beiter

Penny Carol Beiter, age 80, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2026, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Born on December 25, 1945, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Penny was the daughter of Lois and Robert Smith and was later adopted by her stepfather, Joe D. Newburn, who raised her with great love. She spent much of her youth in northeastern Oklahoma, where her family eventually made their home. In June 1961, she married Robert Joseph Lanctot. As a dedicated military wife, Penny lived in numerous locations across the United States, including Alaska, while raising their two children, Robert Clinton Lanctot and Tammy Lynn Ashley. During these years, she earned an Associate's degree in Accounting and built a career in customer service and banking.

After settling in Oklahoma City, she worked for Deluxe Check Printers and later for the Oklahoma County District Attorney's Office, where she served as a Purchasing Clerk. In July 1998, she married Larry J. Beiter, with whom she shared a lasting and devoted partnership. Together, they enjoyed traveling, camping at Lake Eufaula, and the simple pleasures of home, where Penny especially loved watching the birds, deer, and other wildlife that gathered outside her window.

Penny will be remembered for her quiet strength, her love of family, and her appreciation for life's simple moments.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe D. and Lois Newburn; her son, Robert C. Lanctot; her grandson, Thomas Joseph Ashley; and her in-laws, Don and Laura Beiter.

She is survived by her husband, Larry J. Beiter; daughter, Tammy L. Ashley; great-grandson, Caiden Joseph Ashley; grandson, Stormy Simmons; stepson, Larry Don Beiter; brother-in-law, Ron Beiter and wife Donna; sister-in-law, Leeane Tessneer and husband Markel; and several nieces and nephews.
