Penny Mae Gibbons, 65, was born on July 28, 1959, in Louisville, GA, to the late Sarah Brown and the late Joseph Houston.
Penny had most recently been employed at Seabrook Brothers & Sons Inc., up until her retirement. When not at work, Penny embraced life with a joyful spirit and she had a knack for bringing people together. It was not uncommon to see her striking a pose for pictures or leading a line dance. She cherished spending time with her children and traveling to visit her family throughout the Carolinas and Georgia. Her warm personality and infectious laughter made her the heart of many gatherings. She had a special way of making her loved ones feel cherished, often greeting them with silly, affectionate nicknames that brought smiles to their faces.
Penny met Jack Johnson and had two loving children, Tiree Johnson and Jack Gibbons. She is survived by three sisters; Bessie Gibbons (Bridgeton, NJ), Zenobia Richardson (Aiken, SC), and Mary Gibbons (Vineland, NJ), and one brother; Luke Gibbons, Sr. (Alloway, NJ). She leaves behind four granddaughters; Dai'uana, Destany, Demi, and Amarie, four grandsons; Da'marion, Christopher, Desean, and Xian as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will deeply miss her playful spirit and unwavering love. Penny is predeceased by her siblings; Annie Belle Houston-Armstead, Jewel Thompson, Mark Gibbons, Sr., and Andrew Gibbons, Sr.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, May 2nd at In His Image Church, 335 Gouldtown-Woodruff Road, Bridgeton, NJ. Friends will be received at the church from 9AM to 11AM, prior to the services. Internment will take place at Fernwood Memorial Park in Hopewell Township, following the services. Written condolences can be sent to the family through the funeral home website: www.padgettfuneralhomes.com.
