Richard was born on August 15, 1950, to Richard and Helen Leswing. Richard was the middle child, having two sisters, Peg and Jane. He graduated from Middletown High School in 1969. Richard met his wife Gale and married her in November of 1977. They had three children together, Kristen, Richard, and Erin. In 1983, Richard and Gale moved to Keyport, NJ where they would live with their children until 2009. Richard worked from home doing various jobs like rebuilding outboard motors and his favorite job of all raising his children. In 2009, Richard and Gale moved to Dividing Creek, NJ. There they watched their children grow into adults and move away. In 2016, Richard was diagnosed with cancer. He fought hard and lived another 9 years. During that time, Richard and Gale both needed more care and their son Richard moved back home to take care of them. In March of this year (2025), Richard lost his wife of forty-eight years. Six months later, Richard passed away in his sleep in the care of nurses and doctors at Inspira Medical Center in Vineland, NJ. Richard loved the water, being on it or near it. He enjoyed fishing and crabbing. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, collecting and shooting guns, going for drives, collecting coins and in his youth, he enjoyed swimming and diving.

Richard is predeceased by; his parents, Richard and Helen Leswing; and his wife, Gale Leswing. He is survived by; his two sisters, Peg Buck and Jane Denton; and his three children, Kristen Leswing, Richard W. Leswing III, and Erin Leswing.

Richard did not want a funeral therefore, inurnment will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 100 Chapel Hill Road, Redbank, New Jersey, 07701.

He will be buried with his wife on September 17, 2025 at 1:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Cedarville Baptist Church, 328 Main St, Cedarville, NJ 08311 or on their website @ cedarvillebaptist.com
