R Alice Deats

R. Alice Deats, age 87, passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of February 9, 2026.

She was born on July 30, 1938, in Wilmington, DE, to the late Claude and Ruth Haman. Alice grew up on a dairy farm outside of Delaware City until 1955, when the farm was sold, and the family moved to Odessa, DE.

Alice attended and graduated from Middletown High School in 1957 and married her late husband, John W. Deats, in the same year. They moved to John's family farm in Mount Pleasant in 1978.

She enjoyed antique shopping with her husband, and later in life, she purchased a '56 Chevy that reminded her of her first car, and when she drove it, she said it made her feel young again.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John, son, Russel,l and brother, Claude.

She is survived by her son, who was her caretaker and with whom she lived, James, son, Dale (Deborah), grandchildren, Alexa, Stephen, and very special granddaughter, Mary Jo (KC), and her children, Savannah & Grayson, whom Alice adored.

Services will be private.
