Penny McDaniel, 74 of Sullivan, MO, passed away Friday, August 29, 2025 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis, MO.

Penny was born on August 3, 1951, in Hazzard, Kentucky to the late Azel and Mildred (Campbell) Bowling. Penny grew up in Kentucky and attended school there. Kentucky is also where she met and married her beloved husband, Darrell McDaniel in 1976. They would eventually make their home in Sullivan. Darrell passed away in January of 1994.

Penny was a loving and caring person and always a devoted mother to Shelia. She and Shelia always looked out for each other. Penny was employed by Empac and cleaned the rest area for many years. She also worked for the Baymont Hotel and Holiday Inn in the housekeeping department.

Penny was a dedicated Christian. She and Shelia most recently attended church at The Ridge, where they enjoyed luncheons with the seniors group. They also enjoyed Thanksgiving Dinners at First Baptist in Stanton with the Montgomery family who was an extension of their own little family. Penny was always very prompt when friends gave them a ride. She loved watching television, especially her soaps. Her pets Dede and Snowball were very loved.

Penny is survived by her daughter Shelia McDaniel and special friend Steve Montgomery of Sullivan, MO; brother-in-law, John Bowling of Indiana; dear friends Elbert and Sandy Kitchen, Cheryl and Jim Shelton and Joyce and Terry Montgomery and family all of Sullivan, MO, and nieces, cousins and many friends.

Penny was preceded in death by her husband Darrell McDaniel; her parents, Azel and Mildred Bowling; and two sisters, Vickie Bowling and Connie Campbell.

A Memorial service will be conducted 11:00 AM, Friday, September 5, 2025 at The Ridge Church – North Campus, 131 Highway WW, Sullivan, MO with Pastor Mike King officiating.

The McDaniel family will receive friends from 9:00 to 11:00 AM, Friday, at The Ridge Church – North Campus.
