Penny Singleton Obituary

Visit the Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes - Southeast Chapel website to view the full obituary.
Penny Kay Singleton passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2026 finding eternal peace with her son, Jeremiah. Penny's life was defined by her radiant spirit and unwavering resilience. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and strength, having touched countless lives with her generous heart.

Penny was born on October 17, 1969 in Greenville, South Carolina, to Katherine and Kerby Rich. As one of six children, she held a special place in the hearts of her siblings: Anna Hampton, Robert Rich, Lisa Beaseley, Doreen Leaman, and Chanel Brantley. A dedicated student and a compassionate soul, Penny went on to earn a Bachelor's degree from Liberty University and a Master's degree in Counseling from Gardner-Webb University, preparing her for a life of service to others.

Penny's greatest joy was her family. She was the devoted wife of Derrick Singleton for 35 years and a loving mother to her four children Jonathon, Jeremiah, Joshua, and Anna. Though her heart was tested by the loss of her son Jeremiah, she found strength in her 30-year journey as a dedicated caretaker for her son Joshua, with whom she shared an inseparable bond. Penny is survived by her husband, her children, and her cherished grandson, Brody Singleton. She leaves behind a large, loving family and countless friends who will miss her warmth and strength.

A woman of unwavering faith, Penny lived as a testament to the values she held dear: resilience, spirit, and a profound devotion to others. She was truly vibrant, possessing a zest for life that was contagious to everyone in her presence. Penny's love was active and hands on. She was there if a home project needed extra hands and the first to provide a comforting home cooked meal. Whether you needed a partner in hard work or simply someone to sit and talk with, Penny was always there, her heart and home always open.

Penny always taught us that strength is found in kindness, and her caring presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her. We are comforted by the knowledge that Penny is resting in the arms of her Saviour now.

In honor of Penny's lifelong commitment to helping others, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Bank of Travelers Rest for the benefit of Joshua Singleton. Mail to: Post Office Box 3597, Greenville SC, 29608

A Visitation will be held Saturday, February 14, 2026 from 3:00 PM until 4:15 PM at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Southeast followed by the Memorial Service at 4:30 PM in the Chapel.
