Penny Steward Obituary
Published by Legacy from Nov. 10 to Nov. 14, 2025.
Penny Eileen Steward, 77, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 7, 2025, in Anderson SC.
Penny was born May 4, 1948, in Columbus OH, to Eileen and Jack Neely. Her father passed away when she was just 4 years old, and she gained an amazing bonus dad, James B. Eyman, as well as siblings Pam, Paula and Jim. They grew up in Parma Heights, OH, in a home filled with a deep appreciation for family.
Penny was a woman of strong spirit and boundless compassion. An avid painter and lifelong learner, she brought color and meaning to everything she touched. She had a true entrepreneurial spirit and owned several businesses during her lifetime, was a mentor to many, and later in life became a dedicated wellness advocate. She was always ready to listen, encourage, and share her wisdom (or her opinion) with complete honesty. She had a remarkable gift for making people feel at ease, striking up conversations wherever she went, and filling any room with laughter.
Those who knew her best will remember the energy, passion, humor, and warmth she put into everything she did; as well as her stubborn streak – traits that made her unforgettable and deeply loved.
She was fortunate to have several versions of true love throughout her life, each of which she would have said entered her life at just the right time for just the right reason. She was especially looking forward to seeing her late husband, Ed Steward, again, and continuing their epic "Red & Ed" adventures.
Penny is survived by her beloved daughter, Lisa (Andy) Mears, and her two grandchildren, Alexis and Jake Urbano, who brought endless joy and pride to her life. She is also survived by her three siblings, their respective spouses, many nieces and nephews, and countless adored friends. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is now at peace, her spirit free, and her legacy of love and light carried forward.
Nearing the end of her life, Penny was asked which moments were her favorite. She simply replied with a smile, "all of them".
A celebration of Penny's life will be held on Sunday, November 30, 2:00 – 5:00 pm at Air Force One, 5800 Shier Rings Rd, Dublin OH 43016. Please bring your memories, stories, pictures and laughter to this open house to celebrate Penny's life.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages friends and loved ones to honor her memory by creating something beautiful, sharing a laugh, or lending a helping hand to someone in need – just as Penny so often did.
