Penny Susan Walker

 

Penny was an activist for what she strongly believed in, a dedicated Wife, a phenomenal Mother, and an exceptionally profound Grandmother. On November 8th at 1222 hours Penny took her final breath surrounding her loved ones (Her daughter Christine and her everything/husband Kirk) and has now joined her Father and Mother in the pearly gates of Heaven; after a courageous battle of Pancreatic Cancer.

Penny Susan Walker was born in Salt Lake City, in Utah State on August 4, 1960. Penny was born to her parents (Father) Orson Henry Lee and (Mother) Eleanor Simons. Penny was the second oldest of her siblings. Those that knew Penny, know that she was an Eagle that soared the mountains. Penny was always a “Free Spirit.”

Penny in her younger years served her community in King County, WA as a dedicated Corrections Officer. She believed in always giving and giving back to her community. Even in her passing she requests that no flowers be ordered, but that any given acts be given to the “IHC Cancer Center.”

Penny had a passion for “Mother Nature”, she was a woman of the outdoors! She thoroughly enjoyed ocean adventures, to her flower gardens, to Bird watching in the mountains. She will forever be the wind in the trees and the song of a bird’s chirp. Penny was blessed to have met the love of her life Kirk Walker in High School, at Layton High School. Together through out the years were able to return to one another. They wed in Ely, Nevada on the 31st day of October in 2007. Between the both they shared 4 children. 3 boys and the youngest being the only daughter.

Penny was a family orientated woman! She enjoyed time with her cousin Jody. Periodically she would surprise her younger brother Kenny. She always was willing to give!! She gave her time, energy, love, presence, and all to anything she invested in. Recently her battle with Cancer. However, Penny’s most prize possessions were her grandchildren.

Often, she would remind others the luxuries of being a grandmother were “1. You have the ability to spoil them, then send them home full of love 2. She also reminded her children her grandchildren were a part of her ALWAYS.” Although Penny was 63 she still had young babies of her own. Those being her very spoiled fur babies, Molly and Tiny.

Penny and her immediate family would like to send a special thanks to the following: Dr. Moesinger (Penny's Surgeon), Dr. Cassle (Penny's Oncologist), Dr. Evans (Penny's Radiation Specialist). To the phenomenal chemotherapy nurses at IHC Rue, M&M and Jen. To her dear friend and nurse in the cancer center Maryland. They would always joke "is the doctor rushing?" To Heidi for referring Suncrest Hospice and their amazing nurse Melissa.

A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Road, Layton. Friends may visit with her loved ones prior to services from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.

Penny is survived by her honeybuns Kirk Walker, her son and daughter in law Sandy & Emery Allen, her daughter and son in law Michael & Christine Torres and all 8 her Grandchildren.
