Percy "Jim" James Filler, 85, of Blairsville, GA, passed away on September 19, 2025. He was born on March 19, 1940, in Tucker, WV, to the late Percy and Ruth Filler.
He had a remarkable gift for sharing memories of his life and could strike up a conversation with anyone, making friends wherever he went. A devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Blairsville, He loved the Lord deeply. His faith was a guiding light in his life, and he cherished the friendships he made within his church family
He is survived by his daughter, Amanda Makepeace; stepson, David (Karla) Scarzfava; stepdaughter, Shelly (Brian) Sheets; brothers, Gary Filler and Phillip Filler; and grandchildren, Sydney Makepeace, Griffin Higginbotham, Tatum Higginbotham, Kylie Scarzafava, and Troy Scarzafava.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gail Maire Filler, and parents, Percy Filler, Jr, and Ruth Filler.
A funeral service will be held on September 26, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Cochran-McDaniel Funeral Home of Blairsville, GA, with Pastor Ricky Powell officiating.
The family will receive friends on September 26, 2025, from 12:00 pm- 1:00 pm at Cochran-McDaniel Funeral Home of Blairsville, GA.
Interment will follow at Union Memory Gardens in Blairsville, GA.
As we remember Percy James Filler, we celebrate a life well-lived and the positive impact he had on so many. May he rest in peace.
