Percy B. Saxton, Sr. was born on September 2, 1941, in Karnack, Texas, to the late Eddie and Beatrice Harris Saxton. After moving to Galveston, he united with Progressive Baptist Church, where he was baptized and began his walk of dedicated service.
Under the leadership of Pastor Paul Wingate, Sr., Percy Sr. grew spiritually and was later ordained as a Deacon-an honor he accepted with humility, commitment, and a true servant's heart.

A Cherished Reflection

Percy Sr. was a proud graduate of Central High School, Class of 1961-home of the Bearcats. A hard- working and talented man, he spent many years employed with the City of Galveston and also worked for UTMB Hospital. Beyond his professional career, he was a gifted entrepreneur and well-loved barkeeper. His legendary "Junk Burger" became a local favorite and a part of his lasting imprint on the community. Those who knew him would often speak of his warm smile, sense of humor, and the welcoming spirit he brought into every room.

On December 3, 2025, surrounded by his loving family, Percy Sr. peacefully received his eternal reward at his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Yvonne; his sons, Percy Jr. and Kenneth Saxton Sr.; his grandson, Jodie; and his sisters,
Katie Bell and Inez Petteway. Percy Sr. leaves to cherish his rich legacy and treasured memories his daughters, Kimberly Austin (Steve) and Renee Moore (Larry), and his son, Lester Middleton. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Shevone, Derrick, Kenneth,Jr., Kenshay, Kendrick,
Kristie, Tevin, Trakela, Mary, Latonda (Marcus), Larkisha (Brett), Troydrick (Crystal), Roydrick (Elizabeth), Ricky and Bobby. In addition, he is survived by a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and close friends who will forever remember his kindness, wisdom, and the joy he brought into their lives.
