I met Perron in our Freshman year at Hampton University. Us both having unique names made us two peas in a pod. I loved his individuality and even at that young age, he was not afraid to be himself. Either you liked him or you did not. Perron made an indelible mark on all who met him and who were blessed to call him "brother."
My sincere prayers go to the entire Thurston family

To Perron´s family, I am so deeply sorry for your loss. My first memory of Perron was seeing him striding across the soccer field to introduce himself. We were new to Illinois, having just moved from CA and knew no one. Perron started a conversation, and he was genuine, interesting, and interested. Over the years I´d come to think of him as one of the most unique thinkers I´ve ever known. Perron, I hope wherever you are, they are striding across the field to welcome & embrace you. With love to his wife, sons, parents, brothers and friends who are missing him now.

Mr. Thurston was the best most memorable teacher. Such a big heart and cared about our success. Very chill and a great father figure. He will be missed.

Every time Perron came into Glenview Cycle looking for parts he would always be excited for his latest BMX project.
We will always remembered as "Big BMX Kid"

Of his ice skating style, his friends would say" he skated like a man possessed." ...in a good way...
He, along with frat Brother Jason Bradford helped me to find a place to live, when I was without one back in July 2022.
When I lost my best friend/ brother Jerry two years ago, Perron didn't just text a brief " sorry for your loss"........
He PICKED UP THE PHONE and called me. He gave me not 15 minutes, not 30, but a full HOUR of his time simply to help me get through the grieving process. Who does that these days? Truly a rare soul was he.
When I needed help with another friend issue, Perron again gave me a full, live hour of empathy and compassionate ears.
Noone can top his transformation, in hockey skates, into MUMM-RA, the ever-living( for all you Thundercats fans.) Frozemont had never seen a more genuine performance!!! ( And that's without taking a sip from the Ancient Spirits of Evil first!!!
That man truly enjoyed life to the fullest!!!
And whenever I hear " Bustin' Loose" by Chuck Brown and the Soulsearchers......Perron's image of flying past everyone on his blades at Maggie Daley Skating Ribbon will come to mind.
God bless you up there, finally with your brother, who I know you missed so much.

I am still schockingly numb, but I am grateful for the privilege of having known Perron.
He was always such a huge and positive presence on the hockey rink. I (and MANY others) will immensely miss this.
Godspeed, and please keep lighting up the lamp, upstairs; I know your precious smile is brightening everyone´s day!

To Debbie, Isaac, Eli and the extended Thurston and Axelrod families- I am so incredibly sorry for your devastating losses and am wrapping you all in love and strength. It has been many years since seeing you all in the Avoca community, but your family has never been forgotten and Perron´s passion for education and enriching young minds are engrained in all the lives he has touched. I must say, Perron was a great friend to our family. He was funny, intelligent, engaged and fair...it was always a pleasure to see him, whether it be on foot, biking or skating.
Perron had great ideas and dreams that he wanted to pursue. I just wish this terrible news was not true.
Mostly though, Perron was as unique as his name. He was an elegant man in his own way, tall, lean and steadfast. He was one of a kind like no other.
We will be keeping Perron´s spirt & memory alive in our family forever. Big hugs to you ...keep your dreams and ride high always
