Perscilla E. Calanni

Perscilla E. "Tillie" Calanni, 98, of Jamestown passed away Friday (February 28, 2025) in her home surrounded by her family. She was born December 16, 1926 in Busti the daughter of the late John and Ethelyn Hamilton Latona. Perscilla served her country during WWII in the Aircraft Warning Services as a spotter. AWS helped defend the United States during WWII from enemy aircraft. In earlier years she was employed by the former National Worsted Mills and Jamestown Plywood. For most of Prescilla's life she was a dedicated homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Perscilla enjoyed cooking, baking, and canning, and will be remembered for her homemade Italian bread, pizza, meatballs and cardone. She was proud to have several photos published in the Post Journal of her flower gardens, homemade Italian bread, and pizza. Surviving are four children: Kathleen (Bruce) Anderson of Parrish, FL, Russell Calanni of Jamestown, Perscilla Calanni Cosme (David) of Jamestown, Ethelyn (David) Supples of Jamestown; five grandchildren: Kimberly (Aaron) Scoma of Jamestown, Russell (Michelle) Calanni Jr. of Belfast, NY, Dayna (Chris) McCumber of Elgin, Ontario, Megan Calanni of West Palm Beach, FL, Lindsey Calanni of Jamestown; great grandchildren: Nolan Scoma, Katherine, Derek, Emma Calanni; Honeesty, Emarrion, Keymani, Niy'Anna, Niy'Leigha, Khi'Layha. She was preceded in death by her husband Sebastian "Busty" Calanni whom she married July 26, 1946, who died March 13, 2010; her daughter-in-law Kathleen Calanni on March 23, 2009; two brothers: David and Lloyd Latona and a sister Doris Waite. The Calanni family would like to thank Deanna, Sara and Julie and the staff of Chautauqua Hospice and Palliative Care for the care Perscilla received while under the care of hospice. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. James Catholic Church. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Friends will be received by the family from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Falconer Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be donated to Chautauqua Hospice and Palliative Care or St. James Catholic Church.
