Pete Tsonakas, of Lake City, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2025, at the Munson Hospice House in Traverse City, Michigan.
Pete was born on January 6, 1952, in Detroit, Michigan to Theodore and Georgia (Karales) Tsonakas.
Pete loved being outdoors, had a passion for anything with a motor, and could fix just about anything. He also enjoyed trips to the casino and spending time with the people he loved.
Pete was preceded in death by his sister, Carnation Tsonakas-Andary. He is survived by her husband, Oscar Andary; his cousin, Cheryl Cantillon, and her family; and his aunt, Helen Catsimpiris.
Pete was a proud and loving Papa to Landon and Wyatt O'Brien, and a devoted dad to Krista O'Brien and her husband, Kevin. He shared many wonderful moments with them that will be deeply cherished.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at the Young-Holdship Funeral Home in Lake City, Michigan, with Reverend Father Ciprian Streza officiating according to the traditions of the Greek Orthodox Church. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Lake City Cemetery.
The family finds comfort in the Orthodox prayer, "May his memory be eternal"

Dear family, friends and loved ones of Pete,

Mary, Joe, Tim and our crew at E&P Form Tool who had the honor of getting to know Pete though business association over over twenty years, want to express our most sincere condolences.
Pete became more of a friend than a business acquaintance as we saw each other several times a week for many years. He was always a pleasure to see and talk with whether it was about business, sports, the world or personal matters, Pete always left you with a good feeling of someone who truly cared deeply about family, friends and our country.
It was plain to see that his honesty, integrity, knowledge and work ethic earned him the respect of his crew, vendors and customers. It was especially evident with the men he worked with and lead on the shop floor. They all respected him for sure, but they also considered him a dear friend. He was truly someone we missed seeing on a regular basis once he retired, but it was nice to know that he was able to enjoy his retirement which he so rightfully earned.
No doubt Pete will be deeply missed by his family and friends, but our loss is heaven's gain.
We send our prayers and blessings to Pete as he moves "upstairs" and
we ask for God's comfort to enfold all of his loved ones at this time of morning our beloved friend Pete.
