Peter Lee "Papa" Botting

HAMMOND, Peter "Papa" Lee Botting, 65, died December 12, 2025 peacefully in his sleep. He was born July 28th, 1960, to Merle and Lois (McIver) Botting.
A devoted lifelong woodsman, Peter dedicated his career to the outdoors, working his entire life as a woodsman for several logging companies. Most recently for Hanington Brothers for over 20 years. More than a woodsman, Peter was a devoted father and Papa who found his greatest joy in times spent with his family, especially their time spent together outdoors. Whether spending time at camp, riding a back road in his Jeep, or casting a line on quiet waters, he was happiest sharing life's adventures with those closest to him. He had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and a natural ability to turn even the simplest trip into lasting memories. Known for his strong work ethic, kind heart and his sense of humor, Peter lived his life rooted in simplicity, hard work and family.
Peter is survived by his three daughters, Kasey Benson and her husband Travis, Jessa Estabrook and her husband Edward, and Nichole Aqualina and her husband Joseph IV, his grandchildren, his pride and joy and those he took on most of his outdoor adventures, Garrett and Morgan Estabrook, Maddox and Frankie Benson, and Cali and Cohen Aqualina, his sister Karen Warman and her husband Kenton, special niece Kara and her children Haidyn and Kamren, special niece Kimberly and her children Harper and Aubrey, his brother Merle Botting and his wife Peggy and their children, Coral and Kolby, as well as several great nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call on Thursday, December 18, 2025, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water St., Houlton. A graveside service and Celebration of life are planned for the spring/summer of 2026. Interment will be at the Evergreen Cemetery.
