Peter Lee (Leroy) Brown, 76, of Auburndale, MA passed away peacefully after a brief illness with his family by his side on April 1, 2024.
Peter was born on March 22, 1948 to Thelma Taylor Brown and Joe Brown in New Haven, CT he was the oldest of three. Peter grew up in Hamden, CT he was lucky to attend Kent School (Class of 1966) where he played football and learned the importance of education and hard work. He went on to play a football and serve in ROTC at Bucknell University, Class of 1969. There he met his first wife Patricia (Smith) MacVaugh and together they had his first son Michael. Next he went to Rutgers Law School where he was president of his law school class graduating in 1973. Peter then served as an officer in the United States Army until 1974, achieving the rank of Captain. He then accepted a position as a corporate attorney at the Boston law firm of Nutter McClennen & Fish. That is when he moved to Newton residing on Colonial Avenue in Nonantum.
He worked as a lawyer for many years, then owned a paging company and most recently he drove for Uber.

Peter was a loving husband father, grandfather, and uncle. Above all, Peter loved his family, friends, attending sporting events with his sons, Formula 1, the New England Patriots, Boston Rugby Club, grilling steaks, enjoying fine wines, travelling, dressing as Santa delivering gifts to kids in the hills of Jamacia, savoring a good cigar and hanging out at the beach with his buddy Peter in Mattapoisett.

Peter will be lovingly remembered by his current wife Kelly (Dwyer) Brown of 28 years, of Auburndale; his son from his first marriage, Michael (wife Sara) of Broken Arrow, OK; his sons Tim and Wil; his sister Lisa (husband Raymond) of St. Croix; his brother Roger (wife Cathy) Ketura of New Port Richey, FL; Peter is also survived by his beautiful granddaughters Olivia and Ellie. As well Kelly's family, nephews and cousins.

Peter was preceded in death by his parents, Thelma who passed when he was a child and his father Joe, Godfather Uncle Morgan, his best buddy Peter Fermino and many others who we hope are all having a Mt. Gay and tonic together as they are reunited once again.

Peter's funeral will be held on Friday, April 5th at 10:30AM at Saint John's Church 297 Lowell Avenue, Newtonville, MA 02460. All are welcome to attend a brief reception at the church after the service. For those unable to attend in person, you may livestream the event at: https://saintjohnschurch.com/live/

In lieu of flowers, the family would encourage you to consider a contribution to Wil's 529 plan which would be very meaningful to Peter (Link to Wil's 529 College Fund). He always spoke of seeing all three of his son's graduate from college, and to provide a solid foundation for their future.

Always a smile and words of encouragement for me as a new member on the Boston Rugby Club. Peter was a great role model for what was possible. RIP Peter!
