Peter Joseph Clack

Major Peter Joseph Clack, 80, was Promoted to Glory on November 9, 2025, at The Hospice of Dayton after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease with Dementia. Born on September 9, 1945, in Inverness, Scotland, Peter lived a life marked by faith, integrity, and quiet strength, shaping communities across the world through more than four decades of ministry.

Peter devoted 45 years of his life to service as a Salvation Army officer, a calling that carried him to many corners of the globe. With unwavering commitment and an adventurous spirit, he served as a missionary in the Bahamas, Jamaica, Panama, and Pakistan, touching countless lives through compassion and steadfast leadership. His ministry continued with appointments throughout England, including London, Northampton, Leeds, Sutton, Birmingham, Sheffield, and Southport, before he transferred to the United States. There, he faithfully served in Seattle, Tucson, and Phoenix, ultimately retiring in 2011, where he and his wife Estelle lived in Bethel, Ohio. They moved back to England in 2017, where they lived in Chatham, Kent, before returning to live with their son’s family in Xenia, Ohio in 2023, due to Peter’s declining health.

Despite his love for travel and cross-cultural ministry, Peter was always happiest in the presence of his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Estelle; his daughter, Sonja Williams, and her husband James; and his son, Edward Clack, and his wife Amy. He was a cherished grandfather to Jacob Williams, Joshua Williams, Abigail Clack, Jane Williams, and Caleb Clack, and now joins in heaven his beloved granddaughter Bethany Clack, who predeceased him by 3 months!

Peter will be remembered as a quiet, unassuming man of deep integrity, whose steady faith and principled life left an indelible mark on everyone he met. His gentle nature was complemented by a unique sense of humour that often appeared at just the right moment. Whether preaching, serving, traveling, or simply sitting with those he loved, Peter radiated a peace and kindness that made others feel seen and valued.

His legacy of love, service, and humility will continue to live on in the lives of his family and all those blessed to know him. He will be greatly missed, yet joyfully remembered.
