First I'd like to offer my condolences to Debra and the rest of Pete's family. I first met Pete when I was 7 or 8 years old. Pete's dad had a gun shop at the house on Lisbon St. with a side entrance to the cellar shop. There was a Coke machine by the door, we were trying to get a Coke from the machine. I met him again in high school, we smoked in the boy's room at Lewiston High School. In later we rode motorcycles all over the countryside. I shared a garage space on Orange Street with him in Lewiston. Pete and I went to Carlise PA to sell antique signs and gas pumps. On the way back from PA on a long grade uphill the water pump on my pickup went, he was yelling, pull over, pull over as the steam was coming up over the hood, I saw an exit sign. There was a Ford dealer right off the exit. We were back on the road in about an hour. Pete and I went to Indianapolis 500 in 1990. That was a memorable trip. We bought and traded a lot of gas signs and antique stuff. Pete was truly a remarkable individual. I miss him very much. I just found out about his passing today, Memorial Day, 2024. I will plant an apple tree in his memory. Paul Benoit
