Peter Arnold Daley

Peter A. Daley, 78, of Mashpee, formerly of Sterling, passed away after an illness at Our Lady's Haven in Fairhaven on March 19, 2022, The Feast of Saint Joseph. He was the beloved husband of Maryanne Daley and son of the late Arnold and Agnes Daley of Framingham.
Peter graduated from Marian High School in Framingham where he led both the football and baseball teams to championships, earning the class of 1961 the title "Class of Champions." He served as a Franciscan Brother for five years working with troubled youth before answering another call to join the United States Marine Corps and serving two tours of active duty in Vietnam. Peter and Maryanne raised three kids in Sterling, where they had many great neighbors and friends. Peter could often be seen in front of their house on Muddy Pond Road flying the Marine Corps flag while detailing the cars, maintaining the lawn, and chatting up passersby. He was a member of the local VFW and worked as a customer service representative at Norton Company in Worcester for thirty years until his retirement.
Peter and his wife retired to Cape Cod where he enjoyed spending time cruising in his 1969 Ford Galaxy XL convertible while enjoying the ocean breezes, watching sports, and grilling a steak, but most of all he loved spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, and brother and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his loving wife Maryanne of 50 years, Peter is survived by his three children Justin Daley of Dorchester, Brian Daley of Brooklyn, NY, Maura Daley of Jersey City, NJ, his two sisters, Carol Lydon of Framingham, Jane Walsweer of Westfield, NJ, his sister in-law Jane Daley of Florida, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Robert Daley and Mary Cochran.
A visitation will be held at Chapman Funerals and Cremations 74 Algonquin Ave. (Rte 151) Mashpee on Friday March 25, 2022 from 9:00am to 10:30am. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in Christ the King Church 5 Job's Fishing Rd. Mashpee at 11:00am. A committal service with military honors will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery on Friday May 6th, 2022 at 12:45pm. In lieu of flowers donations in his honor may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.
