Peter and I were contemporaries, dating two girls who were roommates for six or seven years. After we all finally married and they shared the maid of honor dress for each other's ceremony, we kept up the close relationship, even though eventually far apart physically. Peter lived a full, enviable life, with Lanie by his side for over half a century, two wonderful, loving daughters, and a career with few equals. But with all his accolades, positions of esteem and respect, the one thing that stands out to me is that he was probably just the nicest guy I ever knew. A true mensch, caring and giving to his family, his religion, friends, and strangers alike. Always with that big smile and a ready chuckle, he towered over me, but he was like a big Teddy bear. I will miss him very much. My heart goes out to Lanie and the girls.

Ernie and I knew Peter only for a short while in 2025, but he left a profound impression on me. The joy in his smile, seemingly surpassing the daily struggles in life, gave immense courage to those around him, including me. He taught us so much by saying little. He always lit up the room with his arrival. Gone too soon, we miss you, Peter! God bless you Elaine, Lauren, Rachel. A lot of regards to Chamy, too!

Peter and I shared our professional and community lives from about 1970 until I retired from KPMG LLP in 2000. Our family and the Elinsky family were both members of Temple Rodef Shalom in McLean, VA. Peter was a wonderful friend during our careers together at KPMG LLP. Although we were in different areas of the practice, he always offered wise counsel and encouragement. Peter was also a strong community leader as Treasurer of Rodef Shalom. Our synagogue programs thrived, and our membership grew significantly under his leadership. May his memory be a blessing -

Being one of Rach´s roommates in college, I was lucky to see Mr Elinsky during brief visits. He was always warm and funny and made everyone around him comfortable. He always seemed so sincere and his love of Rach was evident in every interaction. It was a pleasure knowing him.

Peter was a one-of-a-kind person who was loved by all. Roger and I have known Peter since the early 1960’s. Peter and Roger were college roommates at UConn and their relationship was long lasting. They were always laughing and having a good time! If it weren’t for Peter, Roger and I wouldn’t have met!
We send our love to the entire Elinsky family and hope that all your warm, wonderful memories will help you through these difficult days.
We’ll always remember his warm smile and great personality.
Sending hugs,
Margie and Roger Gelfenbien

With over 50 years of friendship, Peter has enriched and brought joy to our lives. We shared birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, and vacations. We were family. We loved the twinkle in his eyes when he was about to share another corny joke. He volunteered at my school for years, and he brought joy to the staff and students.

Condolences to Peter's family. He will be missed. We were volunteer colleagues at the Holocuast Museum on Thursday afternoons. When I first started at the Museum, Peter helped me settle in and showed me the ropes. He was a kind, compassionate man with a great sense of humor.

Peter will always be remembered for his smile as he talked with our visitors and colleagues at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. His legacy will be carried on by his family and friends at the Holocaust Memorial Museum. Dana
