Peter P. Gilmore, 85, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 12th, surrounded by family. Pete was born and raised in Inwood in New York City and was an Army veteran. Pete worked at the National Broadcasting Company for over 35 years. Affectionately known as "Duke", he was a devout Catholic and a proud American Irishman who always put the needs of others before his own. Duke enjoyed attending his kids and grandkids games and was extremely proud of his family.
Pete was predeceased by his first wife, Rita Anne Quinn (Gilmore); second wife, Joan Frances Collins (Gilmore); brothers Francis Gilmore; James Gilmore; identical twin John Gilmore and sister Catherine Gilmore.
Duke is survived by his three sons, Patrick (Diane), Peter (Joan) and Russell (Michelle) as well as five of Joan's children; Jean Collins, Chris Collins (Jeannine), James Collins (Lisa), Peter Collins (Jill) and Allison McGuire (Hugh).
Duke is also survived by 18 wonderful grandchildren, and 2 (and counting) great grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Monday April 15th, from 3pm- 8pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Rd, Manasquan NJ, 08736. A funeral liturgy will be held on Tuesday April 16th at 10am at St. Denis Roman Catholic Church 90 Union Ave, Manasquan NJ 08736. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society at givenow.lls.org. To send condolences to the family please visit www.orenderfamilyhome.net.
