Hendersonville – Born in Saginaw, Michigan, Pete grew up attending St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. He attended the University of Michigan where he met and married his wife, Alice. They have been happily married for 53 years.
He retired as an executive from General Motors Corporation after 30 years of service. As a youth, Pete always dreamed of traveling to exotic places and seeing the world. His work assignments (and vacations) took him to South America, Africa, Europe, the Middle East, Canada, Mexico, Australia, and China. Looking back he was happy to say that he was able to experience other cultures, a whole new world that God opened up to him. He noted that when he got married he was a "meat and potatoes" man. After his travels he could say he now has an expanded menu having tried ant eggs and corn silk mold.
After retirement the Lord let him to a stronger and deeper faith through a series of experiences and ministries. Father Nick suggested he attend the House of Prayer in Florida. While there on a retreat, his Spiritual Director told him that during the last 25 years he was the third person that she met whom she knew should be a Spiritual Director. This led him to organizing the Life in the Spirit Seminars. The first time he "rested in the Spirit" during a seminar he experienced "waves of forgiveness and waves of love" washing over him. Pete studied for 3 years and became a Spiritual Director. As he helped others develop a personal relationship with Jesus, his own faith and relationship with our Lord grew ever stronger.
Pete is missed by his wife, Alice, his children, Peter and Sarah, his grandchildren, Katrina, Killian, and Iva, and his siblings, Joseph Greko, John Greko, Mary Jo Greko-Wortley, Patricia DeMaet, and Michael Greko.
Rosary services will begin at 1:30 PM Thursday, October 5, 2023 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with the Funeral Mass to follow at 2:00 PM.
