Peter James Griffith

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Peter James Griffith-beloved father, husband, brother, and accomplished sports marketing executive-at the age of 65.
Born in Washington, D.C., and raised in Buffalo, NY, Peter was the second oldest of five children and learned the importance of family from an early age. He cherished his childhood summers at Crescent Beach in Canada. Peter graduated from the University of Virginia, where he began shaping the drive and character that would later define both his professional success and his devotion to family.
Peter built a remarkable career. He was known for his unmatched enthusiasm and skill for his work. Yet, his proudest role was as a husband and father to four children. He never missed a swim meet or game. He found joy in Stephen King novels, grilling on summer days, and boating on a lake. Sundays in the fall were reserved for football. A lifelong Buffalo Bills fan, Peter's loyalty never wavered through the team's ups and downs. Peter was the calm in the storm- swooping in with a clear head, and often, a well-timed joke.
Peter was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Mary Messe Griffith and brother, Mark Griffith. He is survived by his wife, Carol; his children, Alison, Matthew (Brianna), Taylor (Samantha), and Lindsay Griffith; his siblings, Timothy (Merrilee) Griffith, Margaret (Douglas) Frye, and Joann (William) Sanford; along with many other loving relatives and friends.
A service to celebrate Peter's life will be held at Fairfax Presbyterian Church on July 19, 2025 at 11:00 a.m.
