JEFFERSON, NH - Peter F. Guest, Jr. died Monday, February 19, 2024, at home.
Born July 10, 1957, Peter moved with his parents and four siblings to Jefferson in 1966 where he attended Jefferson Elementary School, Lancaster Junior High, and White Mountains Regional High School. Except for a few years in his late teens and twenties when he traveled all over the country, he lived in the North Country, the place he loved most.
After working a variety of jobs in construction, carpentry, and masonry, he joined his father, Peter, in business at Cherry Pond Designs, a specialty furniture company in Jefferson. For the next thirty years he helped to build and run the company until it was sold in 2020.
When he wasn't working at the company, he could be found doing one of the many projects he had going, often involving cars or his motorcycles. He began driving at the age of nine (off the main roads) and was passionate about anything on wheels. He had a particular fondness for VW Bugs, the older the better.
He was a quiet but dedicated member of the community. While living in Bethlehem in the late eighties-early nineties, he volunteered as an EMT. He was quick to say yes when a neighbor or a friend needed a hand. Often, he'd just show up without being called. An animal lover, he was rarely seen without his dog, first Tonka and, most recently, Bear. He had a dry sense of humor and, once he started laughing, he couldn't stop. Neither could anyone who heard him.
He is survived by his daughters Martha P. Guest, Clair Guest, and three grandchildren: Logan Lefebrve, Gabrielle Clark, and Carrie Clark. He is also survived by his mother, Mary P. Donovan, her husband Paul F. Donovan, and siblings Elizabeth G. Marro (Betsy), Mary Eileen G. King, John A. Guest, and Katherine Margaret (Kit) Guest, as well as many members of his extended family including nieces Katie King, Rose King, Windsor Creech, nephew, Rory Donovan, and six step siblings: Sam Donovan, Laura Donovan, Peter Donovan, Nancy Young, Ted Donovan, and Elizabeth Donovan. He was predeceased by his father, Peter F. Guest.
A celebration of Peter's life will be held Saturday, March 2 at the Jefferson Community Center from 1-4 p.m.

I am extremely sorry to learn of Peter's passing. Deep condolences to the entire Guest & Donovan families. We had some fun times long ago that I'll never forget, that's for sure. He was a pretty cool character. I'm sorry I haven't seen him in many years, but his memory will live on for me. RIP my friend.
