BLOOMINGTON – Peter G. “Pete” Kirschbaum, age 88, of Bloomington, Wisconsin, passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2023, at his residence. He was born on July 11, 1934, the son of Edward and Lena (Nies) Kirschbaum. He graduated from St. Mary’s Grade School and Bloomington High School in 1952. On September 14, 1954, he was united in marriage to Delores M. Mumm at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville. After their marriage, the couple farmed, owned, and operated Kirschbaum Stone, retiring in 2008. Pete proudly served as the Mayor of Bloomington for many years. He enjoyed square dancing with his wife Delores, fishing, playing cards, traveling, and playing the slot machines at the casino. Pete dearly loved spending time with his family and spoiling his grandchildren. He was a devout Catholic and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bloomington.
Survivors include his children: Al (Ann), Martin (Janet) Kirschbaum, and Janet (Rod) Kinyon; 15 grandchildren: Kandice, Tom (Kristina), Jeremy (Brianna), Nathan, Robin (Dan), Traci (Jesse), Ryan, Dan, Nikki (Daryl), Allie (Nick), Brad, Kyle, Cody, Charlie (Megen), and Lucus; 18 great-grandchildren; siblings: Jim (Toni) Kirschbaum, Mary (Dave) Bausch, Janie (Jim) Smith, Rosie (Jerry) Trautsch, Joe (Jean) Kirschbaum, Gene (Mary) Kirschbaum, and Suze (Randy) Gutknecht; two sisters-in-law: Pam Kirschbaum and Alvina Mumm; a brother-in-law: Dale Baumler; other relatives and many friends.
In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by his loving wife, Delores; a son: Dale; a sister: Margaret Baumler; two brothers: Jerry and Ronald in infancy; and members of the Mumm family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 23, 2023, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bloomington with Father Gregory Ihm officiating. The funeral mass will be livestreamed on the funeral home's Facebook page. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bloomington. Visitation will be held on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Bloomington is assisting the family.
