Peter D. Kubesh

Peter Donald Kubesh, age 73 of Maplewood, MN, was born January 25, 1953, in Olivia, MN, and passed away peacefully at home early in the morning hours of January 29, 2026, with his loving wife Karen by his side.

Peter graduated from Olivia High School in 1971. He always took pride in his work and held many fulfilling professions and retired as a truck driver from Tilsner Carton in St. Paul. He so enjoyed his motorcycle club “The Used to Be’s”. He was proud to be a member of the board of directors for their campground Pathfinder Village. He loved being “Grandpa Pete” to all of Karen’s daycare children. He was a man who is defined not by his profession, but rather by his character. He was a man of great integrity, faith, and hard work. He believed a man’s word was his bond and many of his deals and agreements were sealed with a handshake.

Peter is remembered by his many friends and family as being kind, generous, and hardworking, had an enormous smile and openly showed his love for people. He helped anyone in need. He often spent several extra hours after a snowfall, plowing out his neighbor’s driveways and alley. Some might say he was generous to a fault. He was known for his vast DIY skills, wit, wisdom, big heart, mentorship, and love of old western movies. He deeply loved his wife Karen, his sons, grandchildren, pets, and siblings. Peter was not a very outspoken man, but he always stood up for what was right. He lived by the old saying of “walk softly but carry a big stick”.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Gladys (DeLong) Kubesh; uncle and aunt, Oscar and Eleanor (Delong) Stuber; older sister, MaryAnn Bacon; and grandson, Tyler Jeremy John Kubesh.

He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Karen; sister, Joleen Rusch; sons and their spouses, Steven Kubesh (Michelle), Jeremy Kubesh (Pennie), Tod Biniek, and Jim Biniek (Tracie); and six grandchildren, Brandon Kubesh, Derek Kubesh, Olivia Kubesh, Tod Jr., Noah Biniek, and Ava Biniek.

Funeral service 12 Noon Friday, February 6 at Mueller-Bies Funeral Home - Roseville, 2130 N. Dale St. at County Rd B. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4-7 PM Thursday, February 5 and 11-12 PM Friday. Entombment Oakland Cemetery.
