Peter Walter Kwapis Jr.

Peter Walter Kwapis, Jr., age 91, passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Margaret Z. Dozier House at Big Bend Hospice in Tallahassee. He was born on July 11, 1933, in Gaylord, Michigan to the late Peter and Virginia Kwapis.
Peter married his high school sweetheart, Mildred Cohoon. He had a long career with General Motors from which he retired. After retirement, he and Mildred relocated to Jacksonville, FL, where he worked for Southeast Toyota. In 2012, they moved to Tallahassee to be near their daughter and her family.
Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Millie; children, Denise Gould and Gary Kwapis (Andrea); siblings, Ernie Kwapis (Connie), David Kwapis (Gail), Diane Nowak (Ken) and Sue Kwapis; sister-in-law, Faye Kwapis; grandchildren, Nicholas Kwapis (Aubrey), Meredith Reinhold (Michael), Anna Lucas (John), Erin Levinger (Brad) and Justin Gould (Ali) and great-grandchildren, Ellie, Emma and Jack Kwapis, Madi, Henrik and Patrick Reinhold, Claire Lucas and Lane Levinger. He was preceded in death by his parents, twin sisters, Virginia and Regina, passed away after birth in November of 1954, brother and sister-in-law, Harry and Sheree Kwapis; brothers, Gerald Kwapis, James Kwapis and Fred Kwapis; sister and brother-in-law, Phylis Kwapis and Herbert Schmittling and son-in-law Garry Gould.
A celebration of Peter's life will be held at a later date on the family farm in Michigan.
The Kwapis family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at the Villas of Killearn Lakes and Big Bend Hospice for the outstanding care they provided Peter.
