Peter Locke Obituary
WENHAM - Mr. Peter Bradford Locke, 66, of Wenham, died on Sunday, January 28th, 2024 after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born in Erie, PA on March 28th, 1957, Pete was the oldest of four children born to Shirley (Champion) and Robert Locke. He graduated from the Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School and the Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, MA, spending his career as a project engineer and manager at US Wind Power, Andover Controls and most recently BCM Controls. After marrying his loving wife, Barbara (Kelley), they settled in Wenham, MA and together raised their two children, Oliver and Daisy (Margaret). It was during this time that Daisy was diagnosed with a pediatric brain tumor and while aggressive treatment drove the cancer into remission, it left Daisy with significant physical and intellectual challenges that had a profound impact on the entire family.
To honor Daisy and all those suffering from cancer, Pete and Barbara created Team Daisy to raise funds for research and treatment at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute through the Pan-Mass Challenge. Pete galvanized many supporters around Team Daisy, cultivating a team of riders, volunteers, and donors who turned a devastating diagnosis into something positive. He greatly enjoyed his rides with friends and celebrating at the end of each Pan-Mass Challenge. Thanks to the generous support and participation of so many, Team Daisy's Pan-Mass Challenge fundraising efforts have exceeded $4.5M to date.
Pete was also a fundraiser for Best Buddies, a nonprofit dedicated to creating opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. He was a member of the 4C's Cycling Club and an avid skier, enjoying many wonderful ski trips with family and friends over the years. A dedicated father, he loved his children with all his heart and cherished his time with them. He enjoyed watching football with Olly, and Disney movies with Daisy. The family enjoyed a very special Disney cruise last fall with Aunt Suzy, which is a treasured memory for all. Pete was also a loyal and dear friend, never wavering in support of those he loved, and that love was returned tenfold among his network of friends who cared deeply for him and his family.
Peter is predeceased by his wife, Barbara, and is survived by his two children, Oliver and Daisy; his brother, Douglas and wife Patricia and their daughter, Emma, her husband, Michael (McGreal) and their daughter, Cameran, of Wenham; sister Suzanne and her husband, Wilberto (Lima) of Amesbury; and sister, Sarah, her husband, John (Simon), and daughter, Abigail, of Hamilton. Pete was loved and will be greatly missed.
The family would like to extend a sincere thanks to Pete's many friends for their support of Pete and his family over the years and to the team at Care Dimensions and the Kaplan Family Hospice House.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to Pete's visiting hours which will be held at O'Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 167 Maple St., (Rte. 62) DANVERS on Thursday, February 1st, 2024 from 4 to 7 P.M.
