Obituary published on Legacy.com by Orender Family Home on Sep. 18, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Peter E. Lowenstein "Dr Pete" age 69, passed away peacefully in his home Thursday September 18, 2025. He was born in New York, New York and raised in Washington Township, NJ. As a young man, Peter enjoyed skiing with his family in upstate New York and spending summers at the Jersey Shore. He graduated from Westwood High School before attending Temple University and then Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. "Dr. Pete" opened his practice in 1980 in Brick Township New Jersey, where his love for providing Chiropractic care and counseling his countless patients on their health and wellness for over 45 years awarded him an overwhelming sense of gratitude and accomplishment that permeated into every aspect of his life. His love did not end there, as he was an extremely attentive and caring son, brother, husband, and father.

Peter is predeceased by his mother and father, Gerda and Bodo Lowenstein. He will also be welcomed in spirit by the other family members and close friends who have also passed; William Lucas; John Bell; Jay Hochberg; CJ Sambach; and Jeremy Zalinski.

Dr. Pete is survived by his wife and best friend, Jan Lowenstein; as well as his son Zachary, wife Lauren and grandson Lucien; his son Travis; and his daughter Sydney. He is also survived by his sisters Edith Hochberg, her husband Martin, and Ava White, her husband Charles; Sister-in-law Jacqualyn Lukas; Nieces and Nephews Heather Garrett, her husband Neal and their children Zinnia and Ilan, Tyler White, his wife Rebecca and their children Lola and Judah; Brandais White; Jennifer Weisz, her husband Daniel; Megan Jiminez, her husband Mario and their child Daniel. As well as his cousin Neil Rogers, his wife Elizabeth and their children Lisa and Chloe.

For over 45 years Dr Pete embodied the essence of what it meant to be a healer not only through his hands but through his heart. He had a way to make everyone feel special, he was a source of care, a friend, a listening ear and a mentor, that is truly a life well lived. He was the perfect example of "Love what you do, and you will never work a day in your life". His work was his passion, a mission of teaching Chiropractic care to all who would listen. He didn't just adjust his patients; he lived his purpose through them. That kind of care and energy will leave a lasting impact and change lives for generations to come. We are hoping that everyone who was influenced by Dr Pete will continue to get adjusted and share their love of Chiropractic with all who will listen, this is the ultimate way to honor his legacy.

Dr. Pete was an indescribable human being whose generosity knew no bounds. His empathy and respect toward others were palpable to all he interacted with, and those interactions frequently developed into lifelong friendships. Dr. Pete loved connecting with everyone, especially about common interests, like health and wellness, finance, real estate, and politics, he just loved conversations. He also enjoyed the simple things life had to offer like fast cars, motorcycles, action movies, reading books, drinking rum punches on sandy beaches or bourbons on ice during celebrations, jet skiing on his stand-up Yamaha, or lifting weights in the dungeon gym and especially his new grandson. More than anything else however, he loved his family deeply; he loved his friends generously, and he loved each and every one of his patients whole-heartedly. He has departed feeling grateful to have impacted so many lives, which now leaves us with a lasting void. As hard as it is to say goodbye, we are all so very fortunate to have a space in our hearts where he will reside for eternity.

Our deepest and heartfelt condolences to Jan and the family. Dr. Pete was our family's health care educator and provider. Forty-five years ago, I met Pete for my first chiropractic visit. Not only did he treat my husband and children, but my grandchildren as well. He was simply the best and most caring chiropractor, always guiding the family to better health practices. Always easy to talk to about any topic, he became our friend. We will miss him always and think of Pete with fondness.
Rest In Peace Dr. Pete.
Sincerely,
Diane and Bill Klimik

Lowenstein family,

I have known you as partly my own family for the last three decades. I struggle to describe Pete succinctly- outside of saying that his open door policy existed everywhere in his life. Pete cherished family, community, and worked really hard to spend small moments with people that meant the most to him.

I´ve never met someone with more motivational drive to work to move things, anything he had his mind after, forward- and I think about that sometimes. He always seemed to be right too- specifically for what he wanted for his family.

Pete was fun, funny, open, accepting, and understanding, and it hurts to write this in past tense, but I expect those traits to carry on as we should in memory of. The loss of Pete is profound to the extended group of family and friends and we will work through it together. There´s a reason why he has connected so many people.

Peter: I appreciate you for raising someone really important to me in Zachary. Some serious core memories of mine were channeled through the enthusiasm of you & Jan and that is burned in deep.

To Jan, Travis, Sydney, the extended family, friends, clients, and community-members, hopefully the innumerable good times will at least help you get through the heavy days ahead. But we will remember a lot of the good times.

With much much love,
Tom Kilgannon & Kristen Kilgannon, Lillian Kilgannon
