Peter J. Maynard, 60, of Dannemora, NY, passed away on April 23, 2025 at his home, after a long illness. He was born March 19, 1965 in Nashua, NH and grew up in Plattsburgh, NY. He was the son of the late H. Phillip Maynard, Sr. and Nancy Maynard (Noble).
Peter attended high school at Plattsburgh Senior High School. He was united in marriage on October 28, 2018 to Melissa Dufrane. Peter was a retired Correction Officer but his real love was building, creating, and fixing – just about anything. He operated Maynard’s Construction for many years, and this business was his true passion. Peter loved his children and tried to make every sporting event and could usually be heard above the roars and screams of the surrounding spectators. He coached his son's basketball team, built stage props for his children's plays, and participated in his daughter science fair. He was a role model for the neighborhood children, if a parent was looking for their child, they were usually in the Maynard’s backyard.
Along with his wife Melissa, he is survived by his three children, Scott Maynard and his partner Katy Fowler of South Glens Falls, NY; Brooke Maynard of Plattsburgh, NY and Marley Maynard of Dannemora, NY. Other survivors include his former wife, Penny House, his brother H. Phillip Maynard Jr. and his partner Lou Ann Nielson of Dannemora; Paul Maynard and his husband John Gustafson of Land o’ Lake, FL; Paula Maynard Nephew and her husband Richard Nephew of Port Charlotte, FL and his brother Perry Maynard of Las Vegas, NV as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Besides his father, he was predeceased by his brother Patrick Maynard and his wife Rose Maynard.
