Peter J. O'Connell

Peter J. O'Connell, 73, of Sterling, died on Wednesday morning, October 3, 2018 at his home surrounded by loved ones. He was born on December 1, 1944 the son of Daniel D. and Ruth Eileen (Bowen) O'Connell. He was united in marriage to Patricia Feehan on July 15, 1977 at St. Francis Xavier Church in LaGrange. Peter owned and operated his own metals processing company for many years. He served proudly in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Sterling American Legion. He enjoyed golfing, reading, playing video games and watching Sci-Fi on TV. He was a fan of John Wayne and enjoyed history especially anything to do with the wars. He is survived by his wife, Patricia, of Sterling; a daughter, Nicole O'Connell of Ashton; a son, Timothy (Vanessa) O'Connell of Rock Falls; a sister, Mary O'Connell-Marvan of Carol Stream; his brothers, Daniel (Kathy) O'Connell, Jr. of Minnesota, Michael O'Connell of Countryside, Patrick O'Connell of Milwaukee, Wisc. and Tom (Deb) O'Connell of Hanover Park; his grandchildren, Sierra, Rian, Tessa and Zackary along with numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Aiden. Visitation will be from 10-11 AM Monday, October 8th at Harvest Time Bible Church in Rock Falls. The funeral will follow at 11 AM at the church with Pastor Dalmus Meeks, officiating.
