Peter “Pete” Mark Postema (age 20) passed away tragically on October 18, 2024. Peter was born in Palos Heights, IL to his parents Ronald and Elizabeth Postema and spent the first 12 years of his life in Crestwood, Illinois. They then moved to Manitowish Waters, Wisconsin, where Peter resided for the remaining 8 years. Peter was the third child. He is survived by older brother Don Postema, and older sister, Megan Bowers (Postema), and brother in law Curt Bowers. Peter was the fun loving uncle to nephews, Nolan, Logan, and Evan, and niece Raegan (Bowers). He was the caring boyfriend of Ava Trapp. He was loved by many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and family. Peter is preceded in death by his grandparents, Donald and Charlotte Postema, and Peter and Pearl Stuursma, Uncle Peter Stuursma, Uncle David Stuursma, cousin Tara Assink, and cousin Ronald Norman.
Peter attended C.L.E.W.S and Palos Heights Reformed Church Preschools, Southwest Chicago Christian School for K-5th grade and North Lakeland Elementary 6th-8th. He attended Lakeland Union High School. Upon graduation Peter started a business with his brother Don, Lakeside Carpentry and Concrete. They built this business from the ground up, and if you know Peter’s family you know that concrete runs deep in their blood and these brothers were happy to carry on that tradition.
Peter had just completed his volunteer Fire and Safety training at the Manitowish Waters Fire Department. Peter was athletic, hardworking, kind, tenderhearted, and adventurous. He was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, snowmobiling, wakeboarding, skiing, and golfing. He was a Facebook marketplace guru and bought and sold and repaired things with his friends.
His loss leaves a gaping hole in our hearts, however; we cling to the hope of Heaven and the comfort of Jesus.
