Peter Paul Rector

Peter P. Rector, 93, peacefully accepted God’s will on July 28, 2024. The joy of family has always been meaningful to Peter. He was born on June 23, 1931, to Janos (John) and Anna Biro Rector, third son of 12. He was preceded in death by 7 sisters (Elisabeth, Elsie, Anna, Rose, Julia, Margaret, and Violet) and 3 brothers (John, Joseph, Andrew). He is survived by his loving baby sister, Mary Flanagan. With this family, many loving nieces and nephews of several generations have enjoyed their time with Uncle Pete. 

On Some Enchanted Evening he met the love of his life, his loving wife of 63 years, Lillian Allen Rector. Their love grew into a beautiful home with their own family of two daughters, Lisa Stuart (Patrick) and Kym Reynolds (Gene). His four cherished grandchildren Haley & Logan Stuart, Jared & Bailey Reynolds who all share the next generation of his legacy. 

Pete was a proud Marine who served during the Korean War. He provided for his family with a 40 year career at PSE&G as Chief Electrical Technician and he was a proud member of IBEW Local 94 of New Brunswick. As a Charter Member of All Saints’ Lutheran Church, for over 60 years, he lived by his faith, sharing his kindness and gentle spirit with everyone he met. 

Please share the celebration of Pete’s life and your memories of him with the family on Monday, August 5, 2024, from 4 pm to 7 pm at Gowen Funeral Home, 239 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick. On Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at 10 am join us and his Lutheran community of faith for worship at All Saints’ Lutheran Church, 5205 Deborah Drive, Piscataway. 

Immediately following the service, Military Honors and final goodbyes will take place at Neshanic Cemetery, 688 Amwell Rd, Hillsborough. 

Everyone is then welcome to join us for a luncheon at his favorite restaurant, Alfonso’s in Somerville. 

For all services, Pete requested that you come as you are, dressed colorfully and comfortably.
