Peter Rudenko

Peter Rudenko, 78, a longtime resident of Boxborough, MA passed away peacefully on Friday morning, March 21, 2025 after a long period of declining health due to Parkinson's disease.
Peter was born in Boston, MA, and grew up in Arlington, MA, beloved son of the late George Rudenko and Doris (Morley) Mercandetti. He was a graduate of both Arlington High School and Arlington Vocational High School. He served as a sergeant in the United States Air Force from 1965 – 1969 where he was an electronics technician. After graduating from basic training and electronics/communications school, he was stationed at Kindley Air Force Base in Bermuda.
Peter was married to Joan (Pratt) Rudenko on December 31, 1973, who recently celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary.
Peter worked in electronics at multiple companies, as an engineering technician, test equipment manager, and senior electronic manufacturing engineer. After 23 years he changed careers to the automobile industry. He worked most notably at Acton Lincoln Mercury for 16 years in sales, which combined his people skills and passion for cars. Peter was a devoted member of several church congregations. He was a deacon at United Church of Christ in Stow, and more recently attended the Church of the Good Shepherd in Acton.
Peter appreciated spending time with his family, whether at children's or grandchildren's soccer and baseball games, school concerts, or kicking a ball in the front yard. He enjoyed the companionship of his dogs throughout his adult life. He spent hours tending to his automobiles, particularly preparing his 1954 Ford pickup truck for car shows. He meticulously cared for his house and yard, restoring both from a neglected state and maintaining them for over 50 years.
In addition to his wife, Peter is survived by his two children, Mark and his wife Karin Rudenko of Westford, MA, and Beth and her husband Casey Rothschild of Wayland, MA, and five grandchildren, Adele, Charlie, Mabel, Louis, and Lottie.
A visitation will be held at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Avenue (Rt. 111), Acton, on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, from 4-7 PM. The funeral service will also be held at Acton Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 26th, 2025, at 10 AM.
