I first met Peter back in the 80´s . We played on the same softball team in the Danvers Mens Softball League and some pick up basketball as well.
Regarding our softball days we called Peter either "wheels" or "jet" to nickname his amazing speed down the first base line . He played the " hot " corner (3rd base) as well
as his base running . You don´t run in slow pitch and make it up the base line and beat out the throw but Pete did nearly every try.
I am shocked to learn of his passing and will remember him for the rest of my days .

We first met Peter when he worked at the Market Basket in Danvers, and we were very pleased to see him take charge of the new store in Gloucester. Peter was one of those people who just made things happen without fuss. He usually could be found on the grocery floor, a copy of the weekly flyer in his right rear pocket, badge worn proudly identifying him simply as "Peter; 43 years." He was always helpful; he listened; he had an amazing knowledge of his shelf stock , including its location and problems with availability. We also remember when, as the Market Basket ownership contest arose a few years ago, stores were without supplies and many employees were laid off, Peter put his career on the line, kept his store open and held firm.
Perhaps the most noticeable thing about Peter was that he was never shy about doing what needed to be done, and it seemed that he would never ask one of his people to do something that he himself wouldn't do-- and frequently did -- if the occasion arose. He was a fine person and a good manager; the store won't be the same without him. We will miss him.
