Peter John Shaw

Peter John Shaw, 77, of Cranston, passed away on Friday, March 3, 2023 at Orchard View Manor. He was the husband of Patricia (Heanue) Shaw of Foster. Born in Belfast, Maine, he was the son of the late Steven and Dorothy (North) Shaw.
Peter proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, and was a musician in the United States Airforce band. He worked as a Sales Representative for Prudential Insurance Company and later worked as a Home Depot Shop Class Instructor.
A talented man, Peter enjoyed woodworking for various craft shows, hunting, fishing, rose gardening, playing his keyboard, and most recently learning how to use the internet, with great interest in discovering his family ancestry. Peter was a member of Warwick Veterans / Pilgrim H.S. Class of 1963 Reunion Committee.
Dressing up as Santa Claus over the years was a joy, and Peter looked forward to each Christmas season, as he handed out gifts and took pictures with children at holiday events. His family and close friends will always remember him as "the true" Santa Claus.
In addition to his wife Patricia, he is survived by his beloved children, Peter J. Shaw II (Courtney McCauley) of Warwick and Penney C. Shaw (David Donald) of Cranston, his stepchildren, Scott Harrington (Roxanne) of West Greenwich and Susan Leveillee (Michael) of West Greenwich, his sister Holly Dacier (Donald) of Rockland, MA, his half-brother Joseph Roeder of Buffalo, NY and seven grandchildren.
He was the brother of the late Shirley Wood and stepfather of the late Michael Harrington.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at 9:00AM at THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick to follow in procession for a Committal Service with Military Honors at 10:00AM at the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter.
Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 from 4:00PM-7:00PM.
In honor of Mr. Shaw's favorite color, please wear some red to celebrate his life.
