Peter Joseph "Bird" Vitale

Peter "Bird" Joseph Vitale passed away peacefully on Monday, January 19, 2026, at the age of 69. He was born on August 24, 1956, and has been a lifelong resident of Plaquemine, LA. Peter was retired from Georgia Gulf as an operator and from the Iberville Parish Council. He was a 1975 graduate of Plaquemine High School. His hobbies were fishing, going to the casino, and cooking, especially his crawfish bisque. Peter is survived by his siblings, Betty Bouchereau and husband Lloyd, Susan Dean, Anthony Vitale, Jr. and wife Stacey, and Michael Vitale; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents, Anthony, Sr. and Margie Couvillion Vitale. Visitation will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Plaquemine on Friday, January 23, 2026, from 9am until mass of Christian Burial at 11am, celebrated by Father Jason Palermo. Interment will follow at Grace Memorial Park, Plaquemine. Pallbearers will be Arthur "Tiger" Pitre, Joe Landry, Terry Hebert, Blake Canella, Ryan Dean, and Robert "Gimp" Gourgues. Honorary pallbearers will be Perry Francise, Peter Migliacio, Stan Jackson, Josh Hall, David "Munoz" Pearce, and Blane Marino.
