It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Peter "Pete" Woodruff on July 1, 2024, in Alpine, Texas. Pete was born October 4,1960 in Alpine to Anna Gene and Guy C. "Woody" Woodruff and returned permanently to live in Alpine as an adult around 2015. Pete, known by family as “sweet Pete”, attended elementary and high school in El Paso, Texas and attended the University of Texas at El Paso, where he put his gymnastics skills and enthusiasm to good use, joining the cheerleading squad for UTEP sports. Pete then joined the Navy as a helicopter mechanic and deployed to the Persian Gulf in support of Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm, serving almost 10 years. After leaving the Navy, Pete resided in Los Angeles working in aerospace manufacturing for clients such as SpaceX.

Throughout his life, Pete was involved in diverse jobs and interests, such as fishing, rock hunting, jewelry making, rodeo, and caregiver to his mom. Although Pete had challenges in his life, he had the love of a large, extended family, and was particularly close to his nephews Taylor and Travis.

Peter Woodruff is survived by his siblings Ted Woodruff, Laura Gutierrez, Susan Woodruff and Lesley Muth, as well as his in-laws Olga Calderon, Irma Woodruff, Tom Blanco, and Frank Muth. He will be missed by his many nieces and nephews, his friends, and his devoted dog, Bobby. He is preceded in death by his mother, Anna Gene and father Guy C. Woodruff, his brother Guy Woodruff, and his niece, Jessica Woodruff. You’ll always be remembered, sweet Pete.
