With deep sadness, we mourn the passing of a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, golf partner, and loyal friend. Peter Edward Zeiss, age 76, passed away on February 14, 2024. Born in Stamford, CT on July 11, 1947, he was the son of the late Marion and John Zeiss Sr. He grew up in Stamford with the Cove Boys and graduated from Stamford High School in 1965. He enlisted in the US Air Force in 1966 and served in the Vietnam War. After proudly serving his country, Pete began his career in carpentry and construction before retiring to Murrells Inlet, SC.
Pete's greatest joys were spending time with his family and friends, cheering on his grandkids at their sporting events, golfing, and working on his seemingly never-ending project list (whether for himself or others). He truly enjoyed the time spent with his golf family at both Richter Park Golf Course and Blackmoor Golf Club. Pete will be remembered for his fun-loving spirit, his great sense of humor, and always lending a helping hand. He loved nothing more than sharing laughs and making memories, and will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost 55 years, Patricia; cherished daughters, Kimberly Zeiss and Stacey Puka; beloved son-in-law, Dan Puka; and treasured grandchildren, Zoe and Tyler Puka; as well as his siblings Alicia Boccuzzi, Paul (Kathy), and Sandy Zeiss, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Marion and John Zeiss Sr. and his brother, John J. Zeiss.
Pete supported many organizations and charities throughout his life and his fellow veterans always held a special place in his heart.
Celebrations of Life will take place in both CT and SC at a future date.

We have known the Zeisses since we both moved to Danbury in the 70´s.
We have enjoyed them and happy they were our neighbors all these years. They have been a big part of our lives. Many holidays and meals were spent together. We all moved away but kept our friendship.
One of my favorite memories ,
although there are many was when both families went to the apple orchard to pick up fallen apples on the ground. You weren't allowed to shake the branches but you guessed it, Pete did and a guy came out of nowhere and kicked him out!
He will he sorely missed.
We hope your memories of him will give you comfort.

When I got my drivers license my father would send me to confession on Saturday with the family car. In his strictest voice he would say "GO TO CONFESSION AND COME STRAIGHT HOME". I told Pete about it. Next thing you know the boys on Euclid Avenue were all going to confession whenever my father gave me the car. We went to confession, but we also drove around a bit with our new found temporary freedom. My father got wise and he noted the mileage on the car and threatened me again. I told Pete, thinking that was the end of our fun. He said, "Don't worry about it". The next time we went to confession and every time after that, Pete disconnected the speedometer cable at exactly the right mileage and then reconnected it when we go home. My father suspected but never figured it out.

Pete Zeiss was a great man. He helped me with construction when I first opened my restaurant Cafe On The Green in 1992. We had a great times together along with trips to Casa di Campo, Dominican Republic. Along with playing golf at Richter park golf course. Many great memories. I will never be forgotten. He had a wealth of knowledge in the construction field and was always willing to help people in need. He will be missed and loved by many.

I remember the year he dressed as Santa on Christmas Eve for all the neighborhood kids. Most of them bought it, mine included, but Kim knew something was up and was scared. I think I still have the photo somewhere of her sitting on his knee, crying. My heart is with you, Pat.
