Philip J. Cafiero, 83, of Paramus, formerly of Jersey City, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 27, 2025. Loving brother of Sal "Bill" Cafiero and brother Joe (Vicki) Cafiero. Treasured Uncle to Malinda (Matt) Chin, David (Yolanda) Cafiero, Alan (Kristie) Cafiero, and Robyn (Matt) O'Brien. Cherished Great-Uncle to E.J., Tommy, Kimberly, Nico, Aubree, Jeffrey, Leo, Brennan and Camryn. Philip was preceded by his brother Anthony Cafiero, sister, Ann Ventura, and parents Albert and Anna Cafiero.
Phil was a devoted son, brother, uncle, godfather and friend. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them any chance he could. Phil especially appreciated the time he was able to interact with his nieces and nephews and watching them grow over the years. He would happily attend their events, big or small, and eagerly listen to their achievements at those he was unable to witness as he grew older.
Phil grew up in Jersey City, where he graduated from William L. Dickinson High School. After graduating high school, he spent six years working at the Jersey City Public Library before concluding his career with the United States Postal Service.
Phil had a deep passion for music, especially country. In addition, he adored music from the 40's, 50's and early 60's. His love of music lasted throughout his life, allowing him to meet childhood idols such as Gale Storm, Connie Francis, and Jerry Vale. Phil and his brothers had a special 'music room' in their home, where they spent countless evenings immersed in their impressive collection of records, which lined the walls. Phil and his brother Anthony formed a band called The Mellowtones, performing not only at family gatherings but also at church events and community functions. Phil played the accordion and sang and was very proud of the work the band accomplished over the years.
Phil enjoyed vacationing with his brothers to places like Ogunquit, ME in the summer and the mountainous areas in Vermont during the Fall Foliage season.
Phil will be remembered for his deep faith in God, quiet, friendly nature, and mustache that would not hide his beaming, welcoming smile.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Alzheimer's Foundation of America or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Philp's name.
Family will receive friends on Monday, May 5, 2025 from 9:00 am - 10:00 am at Sacred Heart R.C Church, 12 Terrace Avenue Rochelle Park, NJ, followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass. Interment to follow at Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City, NJ
