Philip Wesley Condu, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2025, in Ocala, Florida, at the age of 90.

Born in 1935 in West Nanticoke, Pennsylvania, Phil was the only child of Phillip and Ruth (Speary) Condu. He was raised in a close-knit hardworking family, from whom he inherited a strong work ethic that would serve him throughout his life. During his youth, Phil had a passion for sports and excelled in both basketball and baseball. He graduated from Harter High School in 1952.

Phil went on to play professional baseball for 6 years, affiliated with 2 Major League Baseball franchises. In 1956, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Stationed at Parris Island, SC, Phil completed basic training and continued to play baseball for the USMC completing his service in 1958.

Phil arrived in Appleton WI in 1959 while playing for the Appleton Foxes baseball franchise. He married June Lueders in 1960. That same year marked a new chapter in Phil’s life when he hung up his cleats and joined the Appleton Police Department. His 12-year career, progressed from beat and motorcycle officer to Traffic Sergeant, and finally Detective Sergeant of the Juvenile Aid Bureau. Phil was especially admired for his dedication to child protection services, and his gift for public speaking.

In 1971, Phil began teaching in the Police Science program at Fox Valley Technical Institute as adjunct faculty. He developed and taught the Juvenile Justice curriculum. His commitment to shaping systems that served vulnerable youth laid the groundwork for the next phase of his career.

In 1972, Phil accepted a position with the State of Wisconsin Department of Health & Social Services, where he served for nearly two decades as a Juvenile Delinquency Prevention Consultant. Based out of Green Bay, Phil worked across 17 counties as a resource and advocate for agencies dealing with troubled youth, abuse, and neglect cases.

After retiring from state service, Phil accepted the role that would define the rest of his career. He served as Program Coordinator for the nationally recognized Child Protection Training Programs at Fox Valley Technical College, supported by the U.S. Department of Justice. Traveling nationwide as part of a dedicated team affectionately known as the “Road Warriors”. Phil played a key role in delivering critical training to law enforcement and child protection professionals. His approachable nature, unwavering loyalty, and deep commitment to the mission made him a respected leader and cherished colleague.

Phil was a lifelong sports enthusiast, avid golfer, card player, known for his quick wit he was a legendary storyteller and a devoted Packers fan. Football Sundays in the Condu home were always full of food, family, and drop in friends for a quick hand of Racehorse Rummy. We won’t soon forget his never-ending quest to find the best soup, hot dog, chili, red sauce, or corned beef hash place in town!

Above all, Phil will be remembered for his love and commitment to his beloved wife, “Perfect” Patsy, his children, grandsons, and countless friends. There will truly never be another like him.

Phil was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife of 33 years, June (Lueders) Condu (1992); and his second wife of 11 years, Mary Kim (Williams) Condu (2012).

He is survived by his loving wife and partner of 10 years, Patricia (Woldt) Condu of Ocala, FL; his children, Kelly (Condu) Mallek (Brent), Kevin Condu (Tamra), Craig Condu (Kelly); and his grandchildren, Michael Nelson (Rebecca Schmidt), Daane Mallek, and Cody and Ethan Horon.
